Metal works from the 1920's to 1950's. Collection Giorgio Silzer

16 June 2011 – 16 October 2011

This collection has gone to Museum Kunstpalast as a permanent loan, with an exhibited selection in the Grünes Gewölbe of the Tonhalle.

Since the 1970s the concertmaster and violin virtuoso Giorgio Silzer (born 1920) has made a name for himself also as a collector of decorative art of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. There is no such thing as one Silzer collection, but there are several, comprising ceramics, glass and tin, cutlery, silver and furniture, which were in large parts acquired by the Grassi Museum in Leipzig in 2002 (with a smaller stock of tin works being held in Zons). However, rather than settling down, Silzer started a new collection concentrating entirely on metal art of the 1920s to 1950s.
