Frauke Dannert. Collage

Fri, 25 March 2016 - Sun, 3 July 2016

Frauke Dannert, born in Herdecke in 1979, studied at the Academy of Art Düsseldorf, followed by post-graduate studies at Goldsmiths College in London. She devoted her artistic work entirely to the technique of collage. Her concern is not so much to tell stories, but, by drawing from the sphere of architecture, to invent new forms. For her collages she uses images from printed media or her own architectural photographs, which she copies on a photocopier in black and white, subsequently cuts up and recomposes on a neutral image carrier, which is frequently also an existing find. Even in our time of digital image production, Dannert chooses simple materials and a hands-on method of production which requires handling paper and photographs. Museum Kunstpalast is showing her first solo exhibition providing an overview of different creative periods.
