Curator: Anne Rodler

The photographer Erika Kiffl (born in Karlovy Vary in 1939) has been the chronicler of the Düsseldorf art scene since the 1970s. She has both documented the activities of the Academy of Art and exhibitions at the Kunstpalast, and her work includes photographs of artists taken in their studios. Her extensive travels took her to Austria, eastern Europe, Japan and China. The exhibition comprising around 100 of the artist’s photographs held by the AFORK archive gives insight into the diversity of her independent photographic oeuvre, as well as into the breadth of contemporary art, the emergence of which she accompanied as an inconspicuous observer.
