Executive Board

The Executive Board of Museum Kunstpalast consists of two directors: Felix Krämer, General Director, and Harry Schmitz, Commercial Director.

In June 2017 the foundation’s Board of Trustees appointed Felix Krämer as General Director in charge of the artistic programme of Museum Kunstpalast, and also as Chairman of the museum’s Executive Board. He took up his position on 1 October 2017.

Felix Krämer (born in Cambridge in 1971) studied art history, classical archaeology and ethnology at Hamburg University, where he received a PhD in 2005. From 2004–2008 he held a number of positions at the Hamburger Kunsthalle. From 2008–2017 he was responsible for the collection of Modern Art at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt am Main, where he was also in charge of the new presentation of this part of the collection.

Since 2003 Krämer has curated a variety of widely reviewed exhibitions, as well as being author and editor of numerous publications on modern art. In 2013 he was awarded the title Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.

Harry Schmitz (born in Frankfurt in 1967) studied Business Administration and Management at the WHU Koblenz. In 1995 he joined E.ON SE (formerly VEBA). From 2003 he was in charge of business management and operations in his function of Managing Director of E.ON Energy Projects GmbH, and from 2010 he was responsible for managing a number of corporate-wide organisational and restructuring projects.
